The Ministry of Electricity announced on Monday, that sustaining the momentum of production plants needs two important procedures, while noting that the plan to raise production includes three stages.
"The ministry needs to ensure a fuel plan, and it needs to rehabilitate the gas fields in order to sustain the momentum of production plants and raise production rates," Ministry of Electricity spokesman Ahmed Musa told The Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"The ministry has drawn up a five-year plan with short, medium and long-term periods, including the availability of the resources to ensure that within a year we will add 5,000 to 6,000 MW next summer, while the medium plan includes the addition of 12,000 MW for solar and electrical interconnection projects, and in the long run we will reach 45,000 MW," Musa said.
"This plan requires the development of the transport sector and the construction of new transfer stations, as well as many stations that have been introduced into service, which are transfer stations, whether 400 or 132, taking into account the construction of vector lines," he said.
"Major steps are planned by the Ministry of Electricity within the aforementioned terms, with the fuel plan, the necessary funds and the schedule available," Musa said.
