Al-Araji receives US Ambassador Tueller

    National Security Adviser Qassim Al-Araji and US Ambassador to Baghdad Matthew Tueller stressed the importance of creating more efforts to activate the strategic partnership agreement between Baghdad and Washington.
    The media office of the National Security Adviser stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Araji received Tueller in his office today, and discussed with him the latest developments in the political and security situations in Iraq and the region, and means to strengthen the partnership between the two countries, and the importance of making more efforts, to activate Strategic Partnership Agreement between Baghdad and Washington.
    The US ambassador indicated, according to the statement, that his country is aware of the magnitude of the challenges facing the Iraqi government inside and abroad, stressing that the United States of America does not want to be a burden on the Iraqi government, but rather seeks to be a supportive factor for Iraqi government, indicating that Iraq has a history full of civilization and progress, and it's not like Afghanistan."
     Tueller added that his country wants a strong, secure and stable Iraq, pointing out that the presence of the US forces within the framework of the international coalition is at the invitation and request of the Iraqi government, and that the US forces are not occupying forces, but rather are to enable and assist the Iraqi forces in their tasks, stressing the United States' respect for the sovereignty of Iraq and its institutions.
    For his part, Al-Araji stressed, "The Iraqi government is working to be a meeting point for all," noting that Iraq keen to be distances from conflicts, because it is harm security and stability of Iraq.
