The Executive Office of the Federations of the Arab Gulf States decided today, Monday, to postpone the 25th Gulf Championship in Basra to 2023. This came during a meeting of the Executive Office via closed circuit video.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Adnan Darjal, said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "The meeting resulted in the approval to postpone the 25th Gulf Championship to January 2023,as Iraq and Basra retain the right to organize the tournament normally as approved."
Darjal added that "The meeting set June 30, 2022 as a deadline for completing all the requirements of the tournament, provided that the engineering inspection committees continue their communication with Iraq in this regard," noting that "Iraq has fulfilled all the requirements and will gain more time to prepare it in the best way.”
