The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, affirmed today, Thursday, that Christians are an integral component of the country and have faced the challenges of violence and terrorism.
The Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received at the al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, a delegation of Chaldean, Assyrian, and Syriac women. At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Republic praised the important role played by Christians in the country and their pride in their national identity, their participation in the various challenges and difficulties of the country, and their steadfastness in the face of terrorism and violence.”
Salih added, "Iraqi women have suffered from the crimes of terrorism, and worked to challenge all the difficult conditions that faced the family in terms of the conditions of displacement and cowardly terrorist threats," stressing "the importance of supporting, empowering and redressing women, and securing their full rights by the state."
The President of the Republic stressed, according to the statement, "The need for all Christians IDPs to return to their areas, and spare no government effort to achieve this, and to ensure their participation in the country's political, social and cultural life in a manner that guarantees that their voice and demands are heard."
