FICC: Ready to launch the first project within the food security strategy

    INA - BAGHDAD

    Federation of Chambers of Commerce -FICC and the International Trade Center discussed the economic situation for the advancement of three sectors, while the Federation expressed its readiness to launch the first project within the food security strategy.

    The head of the Federation, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi, met the International Trade Center official, at FICC headquarters on Tuesday, in the presence of the official of the European Office for Coordination of the SAAVI Program, according to a statement by FICC, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

    During the meeting, they discussed the economic situation after the Covid-19 pandemic to advance the commercial, agricultural and industrial reality of Iraq.

    The statement included that this meeting came as a continuation of the efforts made by FICC to improve the reality of the private sector in general and the commercial reality in particular, since the Federation is the “main and effective partner in the SAAVI project, which is considered one of the world's leading projects,” noting that "the program is now in the process of being developed and working on implementing projects related to tomato, poultry and egg farms within the food security chain of the Republic of Iraq,”

    "The meeting included discussions on business administration, holding workshops and ongoing training to empower women in Iraq, and there are rewarding sums given to the trainees after their training and rehabilitation," said Al-Zuhairi. 

    Al-Zuhairi stressed that the "necessity of preparing an in-depth study of such projects and benefiting from the experiences and capabilities provided by the union and twinning with what is new in  world of programs and plans,”

    “The Federation is ready to launch the first project soon within the value-added chain of the food security strategy,” he added.

    For his part, the senior program officer of the International Trade Center, who specializes in export research and strategies, confirmed that "the meeting is important and fruitful with the head of FICC," pointing out that "the establishment of an important stage of future cooperation,”

    “For us, work is important with the private sector, as well as the work with the Iraqi authorities for the ultimate goal of trade exchange and creating job opportunities for Iraqi youth through cooperation and training with the Iraqi private sector joints,” he included.

    He went on saying, "We have the full desire to work with decision-makers and invest the funds granted by the European Union,”

    The International Trade Center is a technical cooperation agency for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the World Trade Organization, and the Center works to make successful small businesses projects in developing countries by providing partners, solutions to develop trade with the private sector, trade support institutions and policy makers.
