The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee hosted on Monday, the Supreme Committee supervising the elections.
The head of the Security and Defense Committee, Mohammad Rida Al- Haider, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The committee is discussing with the Supreme Committee for Electoral Security the preparations and plans for the elections," noting that "the committee will review with the security commanders the security situation in Kirkuk province and the procedures of the Joint Operation Command and the Ministry of Defense as well as the security sectors located in southern Kirkuk and the ways to limit the attacks."
Al- Haider stressed on the need to "stop the attacks in Kirkuk province, which claimed the lives of a number of martyrs from the Iraqi army and the federal police."
It is noteworthy that the head of the Supreme Security Committee supervising the elections, Lieutenant-General Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari, visited the provinces and was briefed on the security plans for securing the elections.
