Ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Sahaf said in a statement for the Iraqi News Agency ( INA) that the ministry is committed to the collective initiatives of all of Iraq's neighbors and partners to affirm the principle of openness to all parties by the standards of national sovereignty and national interest, and in this concern, Baghdad Conference came to confirm a new method of partnership and cooperation based on economy and investment.
He said that there is a big difference between August 2014, the day ISIS terrorist gangs raided Iraq and existentially threatened the structures of the Iraqi state and society, today we are talking about August 2021, when Baghdad conference on Cooperation and Partnership, with the participation of Iraq and nine countries, including Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Turkey and France, was held on Saturday.
It’s worth mentioning that French President Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Jordan's King Abdullah II, Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Kuwait's Prime Minister Sabah Khalid al-Sabah, his UAE counterpart Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the foreign ministers of Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey participated in the conference.
Economically, the participants stressed support for the government of the Republic of Iraq's efforts in reconstruction, providing services, supporting infrastructure and strengthening the role of the private sector, as well as its efforts in dealing with the file of displaced people and ensuring their voluntary and dignified return to their areas after defeating terrorism.
On the security part, participants praised Iraq's efforts and great sacrifices in its war against terrorism with the help of the international coalition, and friends to achieve victory, they also welcomed the development of Iraq's military and security capabilities in a way that contributes to the consolidation and strengthening of security in the region, reiterating their rejection of forms of terrorism and extremist ideology.
