Nineveh Governor Najm Al-Jubouri revealed on Sunday the details of French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Mosul, saying that Macron had promised to inaugurate a consulate for France in Mosul in order to cooperate between Iraq and France in sharing experiences in building churches and mosques.
Al-Jubouri said in a statement for the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that Macron's visit to Mosul is historic and of great importance because France is one of the five greatest countries in Europe.
He also said that Macron made a number of promises, including the opening of a consulate in Mosul and ordered his delegation to do so, in addition to exchanging experiences with Iraq in building churches and mosques, including Al-Nuri Mosque.
Al-Jubouri noted that the French president expressed his country's readiness to invest, particularly in the reconstruction of Mosul airport and the Old City during his visit to the province, and informed us that he is waiting for the Iraqi government’s agreement on this issue.
It’s worth mentioning that the French president visited the Church of Our Lady of the Hour in Nineveh and the Mosque of Al Nuri.
