Biden Warns Of ‘Immense’ Devastation from Hurricane Ida

President Joe Biden on Sunday warned of the “immense” devastation expected to occur as a result of Hurricane Ida, a category four storm with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph that made landfall in Louisiana just after noon.

The Electricity Company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, announced that it is seeking to restore electricity to its customers as soon as the conditions are suitable for work, due to the severity of the winds and Hurricane Ida.

The company reported that at least 200,000 people were left without electricity in Louisiana due to the Hurricane.

U.S. President Joe Biden declared a major disaster in Louisiana, ordering federal assistance to bolster recovery efforts in more than two-dozen storm-stricken parishes.
