French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed today, Sunday, that his country will continue to support the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government in the field of combating terrorism.
"France supports you and continues to do so and will support the victims of Halabja," Macron said during a joint press conference with the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
In addition to that Macron added, "His country will continue to support the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government in the field of combating terrorism," noting that "Paris is working to help create a healthy environment to return the displaced people in the Kurdistan region to their areas.".
Regarding the Sinjar district, Macron confirmed: "I spoke with the regional government, and Sinjar region must be stable.".
For his part, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, thanked France for supporting the Baghdad Summit.
For his part Barzani added: "Macron's visit is important in support of the democratic process in Iraq," noting that "a number of issues were discussed with President Macron."
