Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi expressed his thanks to France for supporting the Iraqi forces, affirming the future horizons of cooperation with France in all fields.
Al-Kadhimi said in a press conference held today with French President Emmanuel Macron in Baghdad, which is attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): We thank and appreciate French President Emmanuel Macron for his visit, and we welcome him to Baghdad for the second time this year. We highly appreciate the French efforts in support of Iraq, This stance is highly appreciated by the Iraqi people, praising the efforts made by President Macron to coordinate and participate in Baghdad Conference of Cooperation and Partnership.
Al-Kadhimi also expressed his thanks to all the leaders who came to Iraq to attend this conference to support the Iraqi people, and to support Iraq's efforts to achieve sustainable development and consolidate stability, which will positively reflect on security, peace, and stability in our region and the world, noting that the joint bilateral action between Iraq and France is based on a sustainable strategic economic partnership, and there are important economic projects between the two countries that we seek to overcome all the obstacles in order to achieve them, especially in the areas of infrastructure and energy.
Iraq and France are key partners in the fight against terrorism, and we value the French role in supporting Iraq in the areas of combating terrorism, either directly or through France's presence within the coalition of countries, pointing out that we aspire to greater cooperation in the intelligence and security fields, Al-Kadhimi affirmed.
Al-Kadhimi emphasized the great prospects for the relationship between the two countries, and the seek to develop them and to benefit from the French expertise in oil, electricity, transportation, industries, military and other projects, expressing his hope that the discussions between the two countries will urgently result in cooperation and agreements to be applied on the ground for the benefit of our people.
Al-Kadhimi indicated that "Iraq has a serious desire to deepen cultural relations with France, and to benefit from bilateral experiences and expand the field of exchange between the two countries.
President Emmanuel Macron is a dear friend of Iraq, always welcome, and we appreciate his respect for the specificity of the relationship between our two countries. We believe that this visit will have positive and forward-looking results in all the fields of cooperation between Iraq and France, Al-Kadhimi added.
