Iraq FM: Baghdad gathered powers and countries to solve their issues

Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed on Saturday, that Baghdad meeting will continue and will be a model for the upcoming meetings.

"Iraq capital, Baghdad, hosted an important meeting today. There was no meeting similar to today's meeting in a long time ago,” said Hussein during a press conference attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA). 

Hussein noted that Baghdad was able to bring together different powers, to solve their issues," pointing out that "the capital has created a state of joint action in the regional environment,”

"The event will affect in the Iraqi future and regional situations. The stability of Iraq means the stability of the region,” he added.

He explained that, "The Baghdad conference will ease pressures and tensions which various issues were raised,”

"The joint statement touched on a range of issues related to Iraq's support and sovereignty," Hussien included expressing his thanks to French President Emmanuel Macron for his role in preparing the meeting.

He added that "Baghdad meeting will continue and will be a model for the upcoming meetings," noting that "the meeting will become a means for future meetings,

Hussein stressed that Iraq was a mediator between different countries in the region and played an important diplomatic role, pointing out that "Iraq was the only country that had good relations with neighboring countries,”

“Some internal conflicts have regional reflects, and regional conflicts reflect on the Iraqi internal situation,” he clarified.

He indicated that "the final statement of Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership touched on the Iraqi situation and preparing for the October elections, in addition to addressing the climatic challenges as most of the points of the final statement support Iraq,”

Foreign Minister Hussein answered a question regarding inviting Syria to Baghdad conference, he stressed that "Baghdad meeting was wanted not to raise controversial points,”

He pointed out that "Baghdad conference was proposed again in Jordan next year. The continuation of the meeting is in the interest of Iraq. Iraq has become with a major role in the region,”

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "today's meeting came to support Iraq," explaining that "Baghdad conference is different from the Arab summit,”
