Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met in Moscow with Nikolai Patrushev Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, in the presence of Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister and personal envoy of Russian president Putin to the Middle East, and a number of other Security Council officials.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that during the meeting, a number of issues where discussed, including the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Moscow, and ways to strengthen them, and to open more prospects for joint cooperation to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples, as the two sides reviewed the overall developments throughout the region, and the need to intensify dialogue, efforts, and cooperation to eliminate terrorism and restore security and stability to the region.
"Both sides discussed the Afghan situation and its impact on all States in the region, and it was emphasized that the solution is to form inclusive coalition government and the renunciation of violence."
The regional situation was also discussed through the meeting, and the need to support efforts to make Baghdad conference a success for cooperation and partnership to support Iraq, as well as increasing work, coordination and cooperation on the situation in the Middle East and increasing communication with regional parties.
Minister Fuad Hussein indicated, according to the statement, that the current security situations that the world is witnessing, especially in Afghanistan, require to intensify efforts among all countries to prevent the exploitation of these situations by terrorist groups.
