Al-Kaabi calls on the international community to continue combating ISIS

    The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hassan al - Kaabi, called on Tuesday, the international community to continue the fight against Daesh and its cells dormant intellectual and intelligence, while the acting German Embassy and responsible file ISIS Anika Polten noted the importance of the participation of all parties to the Iraqi political in the upcoming elections.

    Al-Kaabi's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi, received today, Tuesday, the Chargé d'Affairs, the German ambassador, and the director of the Iraq office in the German Foreign Ministry, and the ISIS file official, Annika Polten and her accompanying delegation, And in the presence of Representative Omar Rikani, to discuss the latest developments in political affairs and files of common interest.

    Al-Kaabi called on the international community, especially the Federal Republic of Germany, to continue combating and defeating ISIS and its sleeper cells intellectually and intelligence, and to provide the necessary support to countries that have confronted and are still confronting terrorism in order to uproot the roots of this extremist ideology and to address the psychological effects left by those dark forces against the peoples of the region.

    He added that "the German embassy is one of the effective diplomatic missions that had an important and distinguished role in strengthening the bonds of cooperation and strengthening the economic, political and cultural relations between the two countries," calling for "the continuation of dialogues and meetings between the two sides for the benefit of the future of the two friendly peoples."

    For her part, Polton praised "the role of Parliament and Al-Kaabi in legislating many important laws that support freedoms and enhance democracy," stressing "the importance of the participation of all Iraqi political parties in the upcoming elections."

    Polton expressed her country's keenness to "develop the relationship with Iraq and support it with everything that would achieve security stability in the country."
