British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) will hold an emergency meeting next Tuesday to discuss developments in the situation in Afghanistan.
On Sunday, Johnson wrote on his Twitter account: "Tuesday, I will convene a meeting of G7 leaders for urgent talks on Afghanistan. It is vital that the international community work together to ensure the security of evacuations, prevent a humanitarian crisis and support the Afghan people in securing what has been achieved over the past 20 years.
This comes against the backdrop of the continuing western evacuations of the Afghan capital, Kabul, which fell a week ago to the "Taliban" movement, which will not face any significant resistance from the forces of the internationally recognized government.
