Ministry of Water Resources – MOWR confirmed on Wednesday, that the danger of the collapse of the Mosul Dam has become a thing from the past, while indicating that the filling operations are continuing around the clock.
"The filling operations for the Mosul Dam are ongoing around the clock on a daily basis, nonstop," said the ministry's advisor, Aoun Abd Diab, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He noted, "the fillings are going correctly, and the status of the dam is now reassuring and sound,''
"The filling issue is very difficult, because the work is taking place in a long tunnel under the dam, and there are no large distances for workers movement," he said, adding that "the work is by Iraqi staff of engineers and technicians,''
Diab explained that "the foreign company has left the project completely, and the effort now rests on Iraqi staff. Iraq's benefit from the foreign company is related to new equipment and training of working staff,''
