The World Health Organization proposed on Friday, conducting a second phase of studies at the origin of the Corona virus emerging in China, including a review of laboratories and markets in Wuhan, and demanded the authorities to act with transparency.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, presented the plan to member states a day after saying that the lack of available preliminary data for the first days of the spread of Covid-19 in China hampered investigations.
"Work in the second phase will require studies in humans and wildlife and animal markets in Wuhan.”
He stressed that the work will also require “a review of the relevant laboratories and research institutions operating in the area where the first human cases of the disease appeared, in December 2019.”
Diplomats pointed out that China, which had previously resisted the return of a group of international scientists to investigate the matter, expressed its objection during a closed session of talks, and said: "This plan does not form a basis for future studies."
