MOFA: Iraq desire to ongoing work and cooperation with Global Coalition

    Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein affirmed Iraq's desire to continue working and cooperating with the Global Coalition to combat the terrorist organization Daesh.
     
    "Hussein gave Iraq's speech during the meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh Terrorist Organization, held in Rome," according to a statement by the media office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    The minister valued “the international efforts of the coalition countries for their ongoing support to Iraq in the field of counter-terrorism, restoring stability and reconstruction in the liberated areas of Iraqi lands, in addition to training Iraqi forces,”
     
    Hussein stressed the Iraqi government's position on the issue of terrorism, as “the government worked to take measures aimed at eradicating these groups to their inevitable end, and to achieve that common goal by sustaining the cooperation of the countries of the global coalition,"
     
    “The government's work in the field of terrorism by building capacities of various types of armed forces in the face of terrorism, and strengthening the judicial system based on international norms, human rights principles, and Iraq’s commitments to relevant Security Council resolutions,” Hussein noted.
     
    He referred to "Iraq preparations for holding the upcoming elections during October and the importance of these elections for the future of Iraq,”
     
    Hussein thanked “the countries that supported Iraq's request in the Security Council to strengthen the procedures for monitoring the elections and ensuring their integrity," noting "the Iraqi government's interest in IDPs and their voluntary return, as well as considering this a priority, for this file has witnessed qualitative developments,”
