The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Fouad Hussein officially invited today, Friday, the Speaker of the Spanish House of Representatives, Meritxell Batet, to visit Iraq.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein and the accompanying delegation met with the Speaker of the Spanish House of Representatives, Meritxell Batet
Hussein presented a summary of the current situation in Iraq and the region and the challenges facing the Iraqi government. He also clarified the preparations for holding the elections next October, stressing the importance of these elections for Iraq.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the support of the European Union, including Spain, to send observers during the upcoming elections, stressing the need to maintain bilateral meetings, exchange experiences, enhance cooperation with Spain and benefit from Spanish expertise in various sectors.
He invited on behalf of Parliament Speaker Meritxell Batet to visit Iraq.
For her part, Batet welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressing the importance of this visit, which contributes to strengthening bilateral relations and mutual coordination, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation and activating joint files, expressing her thanks and happiness for responding to the invitation in a timely manner.
