Iraq's Border Ports Authority announced on Thursday, holding talks with Saudi Arabia to secure the Arar road and create the Jamemah border crossing, emphasizing the ways to overcome the obstacles facing the process of trade exchange.
The Ports Authority stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that the head of the Iraqi BPA, Major General Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, participated in the economic security meeting held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, among a top brass delegation that headed by Lieutenant-General Abdul-Amir Al-Shamri, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, the membership of the Director-General of The General Authority of Customs, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Border Guard Forces Command, the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, the Director General of Land Transport, and the Director General of Travel and Nationality.
The statement added that a number of common interest issues were discussed, the most important of which is the security situation on the borders between the two countries and securing the road from the Arar border crossing to the provinces of Iraq, as well as discussing the obstacles facing the process of trade exchange and agreeing on a new mechanism to encourage trade and work to overcome all obstacles between the two countries, the statement added.
Al-Waeli gave his full support to the success of the commercial work at the Arar border crossing and establishes the new Jamemah border crossing in Muthanna province with the border of Saudi Arabia, to encourage cross-border trade exchange (CBT).
