Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov stressed, Friday, the necessity to widen the trade relations.
In statement of foreign ministry received by Iraqi News Agency (INA), mentioned that "Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein expressed his thanks to the Russian government for its supportive stance upon Iraqi request for a U.N. team to monitor parliamentary elections.
The statement also mentioned that both sides have discussed, in a phone call , the necessity of the upcoming elections to enhance democratic system in Iraq, assuring on widen the bilateral relations and the important role of Russian oil companies in Iraq.
The two sides stressed the need to prepare a diverse agenda for the upcoming meeting of the Iraqi-Russian joint committee, which will be held in Moscow next month, to serve the economic reality and expand the scope of trade exchange between the two brotherly countries.
For his part, Russian Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s support to the Iraqi government, appreciating the relations between the federal government and Kurdistan regional government that will serve stability and defeat ISIS.
