MOWR: Addressing water scarcity in Diyala

    Ministry of Water Resources – MOWR announced water reach to the Khuraisan River, in order to address water scarcity in Diyala.
     
    "Under the direction of the Minister of Water Resources, the flow of water to Khuraisan River from the Tigris River has been launched for the first time in years," according to a statement by the media office of the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    The statement included, "The pumping station to boost the Khuraisan River, which takes water from the Lower Khalis project, directly feeds from the Tigris River, has been operated in order to treat water scarcity in Diyala and deliver raw water to the liquefaction stations,"
     
    “The operation came to serve approximately 450 thousand people in the city of Baquba and the surrounding areas,"
