The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed, today, Friday, its preparations to confront the water scarcity in Diyala Governorate.
"The ministry is currently working on addressing the problems in Diyala, by transferring a quantity of water from a canal below Al-Khalis to a Sarya area to secure drinking water for the area," the ministry’s spokesman, Aoun Dhiab, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He pointed out that "there is a large boosting station from the Tigris River that contains 40 pumps to increase the operation of these pumps, in order to secure the needs of the Lower Khalis region," noting that "the ministry is making full preparations for the purpose of facing the expected shortages and water scarcity in the Diyala River."
