MOFA gives Turkish ambassador a protest note regarding ongoing breaches

    Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Turkish Chargé d'Affairs and handed him a protest note in response to the ongoing violations, including the presence of the Turkish Defense Minister in Iraqi territories without prior coordination.

    “The Iraqi government expressed its strong dissatisfaction and condemnation regarding the presence of the Turkish Minister of Defense Khulousi in the Iraqi territories without coordination or prior approval by the competent authorities, and him meeting the Turkish forces in the territories illegally, as well as the condemnation of the Turkish Minister of Interior statements regarding Turkey's intention to establish a permanent military base in northern Iraq,” included a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

    "The government categorically rejects the ongoing violations of Iraqi sovereignty and the inviolability of Iraqi lands as well as airspace by the Turkish military forces," the Ministry affirmed, according to the statement.
