Iran announced on Saturday, that an "understanding" has been reached between the parties in Vienna talks aimed at salvaging the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.
"During today's meeting, good discussions occurred about the results of the activities of the two working groups on lifting US sanctions and nuclear commitments," said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the conclusion of the second round of talks of the joint committee to follow up the implementation of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program,.
"The talks have reached a stage in which they can work on a joint document on returning to the nuclear agreement," he added.
Vienna has been hosting talks under the auspices of the European Union on ways to salvage the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program in light of the US withdrawal from it in 2018 during the term of its former president, Donald Trump, who imposed painful sanctions on the Iranian side, to respond by reducing its obligations in the deal since 2019.
