US-Led International Coalition affirmed, “ We respect for Iraqi sovereignty,” indicating “Our mission is to defeat Daesh,”
"The Joint Task Force in Iraq is here due to the invitation of the Iraqi government and works in close coordination with it with full respect for the sovereignty of Iraq," said the spokesman for the Joint Task Force in the International Coalition, Colonel Wayne Morato to Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Colonel Morato explained that "the mission of the Joint Task Force, in cooperation with the Iraqi security forces and the Peshmerga, is to defeat the terrorist gangs of Daesh and its remnants in specific areas in Iraq and Syria," noting that "this follows conditions for follow-up operations that will increase regional stability,"
The coalition had previously denied the presence of combat forces in Iraq.
The media office of the Joint Task Force, Operation Inherent Resolve of the International Coalition, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that the talk about the arrival of combat forces to Iraq is untrue.
He added, "All personnel in Iraq are advisers working under the orders and command of the Iraqi Joint Operations and the Iraqi government,"
