Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein stressed Today, Thursday the need to mobilize all energies to confront the threat of discrimination and extremism.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "Hussein received Cardinal Saint Louis Sacco, Patriarch of the Chaldean community in Iraq, and during the meeting he praised the efforts of the Church and its role in preparing for the visit of Pope Francis, which represented a deep human message of solidarity."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed "the necessity of mobilizing all energies to confront the threat of discrimination and extremism," calling for "the importance of spreading a culture of trust, love and brotherhood, and the elimination of the culture of hatred."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his "pride in the distinguished national role that Iraqi Christians play," stressing that "coexistence between different religions and sects is one of the distinguishing features of the Iraqi people that he presented to all nations and peoples of the world, and that everyone contributes today in managing the democratic political experience."
For his part, Cardinal Louis Sacco expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its efforts in making the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Iraq a success, and the wide government effort that contributed to this, pointing to the importance of the visit to all Iraqis who showed warm hospitality in receiving His Holiness from Muslims, Christians and other sects. .
