European Commission Vice President Franz Timmermans said that the European Union's coronavirus vaccination strategy had made mistakes, including when it came to purchasing vaccines.
The European official added, in an interview with Tagesspiegel AM Sonntag newspaper published, "This is a fact. Mistakes have been made in both Brussels and the member states of the European Union, when requesting the purchase of vaccines."
Timmermans indicated not to rush and to conduct an assessment after the end of the epidemic, when "it will be possible to see what was wrong we did and what was done correctly."
Timmermans stressed that the joint request for vaccines was the right step. But this agreement was in the interest of rich countries like Germany.
