The Capital Mayoralty decided, today, Thursday, to cancel the celebration of the annual Baghdad Day.
The secretariat said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that it “used to celebrate the annual Baghdad Day on the fifteenth of November every year, in honor of our beloved capital, and as a reminder of its civilizational position through the ages, and the celebration includes many cultural and artistic activities and events.”
The mayoralty added that "we decided to cancel the celebration for this year in compliance with the decisions of the Supreme Committee for National Health and Safety, and the instructions of the Ministry of Health, which emphasized preventing large gatherings, to prevent the spread of the Corona epidemic."
The Capital Mayoralty also pointed out that "while Baghdad Mayoralty offers congratulations and blessings to the Baghdadis and Iraqis in general on the annual day of their capital, stressing that the occasion of Baghdad Day will be a strong incentive and motivation for the employees of the Baghdad Mayoralty to double the service effort provided to Baghdad and its people."
