UNESCO issued the registration certificates of the Palm trees in Iraq and Arba'in visitation; Forty Days of mourning over Imam Al-Hussein; to be enlisted in the Intangible World Heritage.
“This is a new cultural achievement by Iraq at global cultural level. The Palm tree that represents one of the symbols of Mesopotamia throughout history, and Arba'in visitation; the fortieth visit that represents one of the largest human gatherings in the world," included a statement by the Ministry of Culture.
The statement also included that the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Abdul Amir Al-Hamdani received a congratulatory message with the two registration certificates signed by the Director-General of UNESCO on the occasion of the decision of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage to include date palms and all related knowledge, skills, traditions and practices as well as including providing Services and hospitality during the fortieth visit in the list of intangible cultural human heritage based on the proposal of Iraq.
