Foreign Minister Muhammad Ali al-Hakim confirmed today, Wednesday, that the protesters' message in front of the American embassy has arrived.
Al-Hakim said in a tweet seen by the Iraqi News Agency: "The message of the protesters reached their message and the safety of their withdrawal became necessary," noting that he "spoke with the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces about ending the protests in front of the American embassy and stressed the safety of employees."
Al-Hakim added that "the protection of diplomats, diplomatic missions and their embassies is the responsibility of Iraq," noting that "Iraq pledged, after its approval of the Geneva Convention, to protect embassies and diplomatic missions."And our correspondent reported today, Wednesday, that the gradual withdrawal of the protesters from the American embassy will begin.
This called the popular mobilization the masses located near the US embassy to withdraw in respect of the decision of the Iraqi government, which ordered this in order to preserve the prestige of the state, indicating that the message of the masses present there has arrived.
