Kurdistan Alliance confirmed that the visit of Speaker of Parliament Muhammad Al-Halboosi to Erbil aims at resolving the law of elections and reach an agreement on it.
"This visit and his meeting with KRG president Negervan Barzani and purpose of these moves is to reach an agreement to pass a law of elections because it is one of the most important demands of the demonstrators, as it is related all Iraqi components and they need to have a say in the election law,” MP of Kurdistan Alliance Salim Shushka, told Iraqi News Agency – INA.
He pointed out that in the absence of a prior agreement on the draft law, “voting on it tomorrow will fail”
President Barham Saleh is subjected to political, internal and regional pressures to choose the prime minister, in addition to the pressure of the street and the demonstrators.
“This is very difficult in such hard circumstances, especially after the largest bloc waived its right to nominate an independent and non-partisan person," he added.
Earlier today, Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halboosi arrived in Erbil and, upon his arrival, met with the President of KRG, Nechirvan Barzani.
