Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim on Monday stressed the depth of Iraqi-Russian relations and the importance of strengthening them.
We discussed trade relations, facilitating visa procedures, as well as supporting Iraqi students and developments in the region, Hakim told a joint news conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Baghdad.We discussed the issue of combating terrorism and the unity of Syria.
For his part Lavrov said: The political dialogue between Iraq and Russia is continuing.We discussed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism, he said.
There are more than 3,000 Iraqi students studying in Russia and 100 diplomats training, Lavrov said.
