The US Federal Aviation Administration announced it is investigating a near-collision between a Delta Air Lines jet and a fighter jet near Ronald Reagan Washington International Airport.
The FAA explained that Delta Flight 2389, an Airbus A319 bound for Minneapolis, was cleared for takeoff at approximately 3:15 p.m. (19:15 GMT) while four US Air Force T-38 Talon jets were en route to Arlington National Cemetery for a tribute airshow.
The FAA added that the Delta jet received a collision alert in the cockpit indicating the presence of another aircraft nearby, and air traffic controllers immediately issued corrective instructions to the two aircraft to avoid a collision.
