The United Arab Emirates extended an official invitation to Iraq on Wednesday to participate in the Bani Yas Forum.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received today the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq, Abdullah Matar Al Mazrouei, at the ministry's headquarters in Baghdad."
The statement indicated that "during the meeting, ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations in various fields were discussed, in addition to discussing issues of common interest."
It added that "the two sides affirmed their shared commitment to maintaining the best relations at the political, economic, and cultural levels. They also emphasized the role of the two countries in easing regional tensions and contributing to resolving outstanding issues in the region."
For his part, the UAE Ambassador expressed his "thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its support and cooperation, which contributed to the success of the UAE Embassy in Baghdad," stressing "the importance of activating cooperation between the two countries and developing bilateral relations to achieve common interests."
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Al Mazrouei extended an official invitation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs from his Emirati counterpart to visit the UAE and participate in the Bani Yas Forum.
