The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) criticized the US National Security Advisor's statements on Friday, in which he spoke of the Zionist entity's right to defend itself. Hamas considered them a blatant distortion of reality, emphasizing that the occupier has no right to defend its occupation.
The movement said in press statements: "The claim that Hamas chose war instead of releasing the hostages is a distortion of the facts," noting that "the resistance presented clear initiatives for a ceasefire and an exchange deal, but the occupation, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, rejected them and deliberately sabotaged them to achieve its own political interests."
The movement emphasized that "the ongoing Zionist aggression against our people for decades, and the crimes of genocide in Gaza, are what warrant condemnation and accountability, not justification and support." It noted that "the occupation has not adhered to any of the terms of the truce, but has continued killing, starving, and imposing a siege, which has led to the failure of the understandings and undermined the chances of an extension."
The movement added that "the US National Security Advisor's statements once again reveal the full partnership in the aggression against our people and the complicity with the occupation in committing crimes of genocide, starvation, and siege." It emphasized that "the Palestinian resistance is exercising its legitimate right to defend its people, land, and holy sites against occupation and aggression." It emphasized that "attempts to distort the facts will not succeed in exonerating the occupation of its crimes and will not provide Washington with moral cover for its biased policies."
