Six suspects were detained by the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency FIIA on Thursday in connection with the death of a member and the injuries of two others in Diwaniyah.
"Detachments of FIIA specializing in counterterrorism in Diwaniyah Governorate detained six suspects after they participated in an armed conflict with a security force, as they were wanted by the judiciary," the agency said in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). One member was martyred as a result, while two others were injured.
FIIA added, "This operation came after intensified intelligence efforts and field follow-up, and the agency's detachments were able to arrest them before they could flee." The statement explained that "they were referred to the competent investigative authorities to receive their just punishment."
