The Ministry of Water Resources on Wednesday denied the removal of the Badush Dam in Nineveh province.
In a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Ministry of Water Resources spokesman Khalid Shamal Musahib said: “The Ministry of Water Resources confirms that the news reported by some media channels and news platforms about the demolition of the Badush Dam (the implemented parts of it), which has been suspended since 1991, is false, but on the contrary, the ministry is in the process of contracting with an international consulting firm specialized in the field of large dams to find a permanent solution to the Mosul Dam issue, including the Badush Dam, where the approval of the Prime Minister was obtained, and the local government in Mosul is fully informed of this and supports the steps taken by the ministry.”
“The ministry emphasizes on media channels to take news from its official sources and stay away from non-specialized people and irresponsible statements that would provoke public opinion,” the statement said.
