Basra Criminal Court issued a death sentence against a drug dealer today, Tuesday.
The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Basra Criminal Court issued a death sentence against a drug dealer for the crime of drug trafficking."
It added that "the convict was found in possession of one kilogram of methylamphetamine, along with tools used in preparing narcotic substances for the purpose of trafficking and selling them among users."
The statement continued, "The ruling was issued based on the provisions of Article 27/First of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017."
