The Ministry of Transport announced on Friday the recording of an earthquake near Wasit Governorate.
"Our seismic observatories recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 degrees near the Iraqi-Iranian border in Wasit Governorate," stated the ministry in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement added, "The seismic observatories recorded an earthquake about 60 km from the city of Kut in Wasit Governorate, where its magnitude reached 3.3 degrees, and it was felt by citizens living near its occurrence."
The ministry called on citizens to stay away from "false news and rumors, and to adhere to seismic commandments."
