The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Planning Affairs, Hisham Al-Alawi, confirmed today, Wednesday, that Iraq's foreign policy is based on the Iraqi constitution and the supreme national interests, noting that the relationship with America is diverse and includes many areas.
Al-Alawi explained, in his statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Ministry of Foreign Affairs adopts a classification system for countries and embassies according to multiple priorities that include political, economic, commercial, security, military, cultural, educational and consular axes," noting that "relations with the United States are among the priorities of Iraqi foreign policy; Due to their importance in various fields."
He added, "Relations with the United States are distinguished by their diversity, as they include political, security and military aspects, in addition to economic and commercial cooperation, as well as the educational and cultural dimension, in addition to the presence of a large number of the Iraqi community residing there."
Al-Alawi pointed out that "Iraq's foreign policy, which began to crystallize after 2003, is based on the principles contained in the current Iraqi constitution and on national values and constants, with a focus on achieving Iraq's supreme interests and protecting its people from any potential harm."
