Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani confirmed today, Tuesday, that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed in all international forums the recovery of smuggled Iraqi antiquities.
Al-Badrani said in a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding the delivery of a set of Iraqi antiquities to the Ministry of Culture, which was attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for recovering the smuggled Iraqi antiquities and returning them to the homeland after they were stolen by thieves during previous periods."
He pointed out that "the Prime Minister stressed in all international forums the need to cooperate with Iraq to recover smuggled Iraqi antiquities," noting that "rare and well-known ethnic antiquities dating back to the Assyrian era that had been stolen earlier have been recovered."
