The Security Media Cell-SMC announced on Sunday the results of the airstrike in the “Al-Zarka” area, located along the border between Salahaddin and Kirkuk governorates.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), SMC said, “Following the Security Media Cell’s statement issued on Friday, January 31, regarding the airstrike carried out by Iraqi F-16 aircraft in the Al-Zarka area, based on accurate information from the Military Intelligence Directorate, a joint force from the Special Forces, the Eastern Salahaddin Operations Command, and the courageous members of the Military Intelligence Directorate, under the technical monitoring and follow-up of the Targeting Cell in the Joint Operations Command, began today (Sunday) inspecting the site of the successful airstrike.”
The statement added, “The force discovered 7 bodies of terrorists, some of whom were wearing explosive belts, as well as various weapons, logistical materials, devices, criminal evidence, and other items. The search operation is still ongoing in the targeted area and its surroundings.”
It also stated that “the identities of the terrorists who were targeted will be determined later.”
The statement concluded, “Our security forces’ high-level operations continue in the fight against terrorism and its leadership.”
