Acting U.S. Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan arrived in Baghdad on Tuesday.
The US State Department says that it is willing to emphasize the importance of Iraq sovereignty and discuss the future of US troops presence there.
In his first visit to Iraq Shanahan intends to discuss US troop withdrawal from Syria with American leaders and by visiting Iraqi officials, including PM Adel Abdul Mahdi.
