Minister of Water Resources Jamal Al-Adiley said on Sunday, the reason of water levels drop in Al-Razzaza Lake is due to insufficient floods in the western plateau. Al-Adiley said to Ina: “Al-Razzaza Lake is fed by two sources; a floodgate between Habbaniyah and Razazah lakes and by floods from the surrounding deserts. Al-Furat River’s water is still scares; despite rain and floods in Iraq this season. The rain and floods were in the northern, north-eastern, and south-eastern parts of the country; but barely in the western side and its deserts. The few floods that occurred there flew to Habbaniyah Lake”.

He went on to say: “the water must rise to a certain level in Habbaniyah Lake, so it can be diverted to Al-Razzaza. Filling Al-Razzaza depends also on the water levels in Al-Furat”.
