The Border Ports Commission (BPC) announced, on Wednesday, its activities during the past 48 hours.
"The total activities during the past 48 hours were as follows: 3 travelers, including a woman holding foreign nationality, were arrested in possession of 1960 narcotic eye drops with pills and crystal narcotic substance at the Shalamcheh port, and a vehicle was seized that caused a waste of public money estimated at more than one million Iraqi dinars due to the addition of a substance for the purpose of evading payment of customs duties at the Zurbatiyah port,” The official spokesman for BPA Alaa Al-Din Al-Qaisi, stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"Two containers containing various mobile phones were seized with other unauthorized materials, which is in violation of the import controls and conditions at the northern Umm Qasr port,” The statement added.
“The seizures were carried out by the authority in cooperation with the relevant departments, and the accused and the seized items were referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law,” It said.
