MPs support PM's security measures

    Members of the House of Representatives expressed, on Wednesday, their full support for the Prime Minister's government in its measures to address security challenges.

    The media department of the Council of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The interventions of the representatives during the hosting of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani focused on the axes of the security aspect by emphasizing the need to maintain Iraq's security through the government's commitment to its role in strengthening its steps in the security field to prevent any plans that attempt to target Iraq's sovereignty, and emphasizing the unity of ranks to prevent destabilization of security and combat organized crime, and demanding attention to the governorates and regions liberated from ISIS terrorist gangs and helping the displaced to return to their areas."

    It added, "The interventions included in the economic aspect the need to reveal the rates of economic reform and the steps taken by the government to combat corruption, and to double efforts to achieve sustainable development by diversifying the country's economies and increasing non-oil revenues, and not relying completely on oil, in addition to addressing the pending files between the federal governments and the Kurdistan Region, especially the full disbursement of salaries of the region's employees and not delaying their sending."

    The office also added, "The members of the House of Representatives expressed their full support for Al-Sudani's government in its measures to confront the security challenges facing Iraq to maintain its national security and protect citizens, and to appreciate the government's role in maintaining security and not dragging Iraq into a proxy war, in addition to the cooperation between the legislative, executive, and judicial authorities, with the importance of governing procedures to control corruption operations, and following up on those files according to the government program."
