The First Deputy Speaker of the parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, affirmed on Wednesday his support for the declaration of a ceasefire in Lebanon, calling on the international community to intensify its efforts and endeavors to reach an end to the aggression in Gaza.
Al-Mandalawi said, in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "While we express our welcome to the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, and our praise for the international diplomatic efforts made during the last days to mature this agreement, we affirm that the field, which was shed with the blood of martyrs, and baptized the heroism and steadfastness of the resisters, and the steadfastness of the dear Lebanese people, has formed the final word in forcing the entity to stop its aggression and crimes."
He added: "We support this agreement aimed at establishing peace and stability in the region, and we renew our call to the international community to intensify its efforts and endeavors to reach an end to the aggression in Gaza and find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue."
Al-Mandalawi called for "urgent action to relief the afflicted in Palestine and Lebanon, and to treat the injured," stressing "to monitor the extent of the Zionist enemy's commitment to the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, and to continue to pressure it to curb its bloodshed, brutality and thirst for blood."
