The Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yehia Rasool, confirmed on Thursday, that no security breaches were recorded during the census days. He noted that the decision to lift or extend the curfew is subject to the assessment of the Supreme Security Committee.
Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Rasool stated, “The decision to either end or extend the curfew imposed during the census is based on the evaluations of the Supreme Security Committee for the Census and the Ministry of Planning.”
He added, “No breaches occurred during the two census days. There has been significant cooperation from citizens with mobile census teams and security forces, reflecting citizens’ enthusiasm in providing their data.”
He further explained that “the curfew contributed to ensuring the smooth flow of the census process, with notable compliance from citizens. Remaining census procedures will continue as planned by the Ministry of Planning until the 10th of December.”
