Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to participate in the Arab-Islamic Summit.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Saturday to participate in the ministerial meeting of the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit."
The statement added that "the minister began his visit by meeting with the Prime Minister and Palestinian Foreign Minister, Mohammed Mustafa, where they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries, in addition to reviewing the most important regional and international issues of common interest, developments related to tensions in the Middle East region, and exchanging views on the impact of the next US administration and the positions of the new President Trump on the political situation of countries in the region."
According to the statement, Hussein stressed "Iraq's firm position in supporting the Palestinian cause," emphasising "Iraq's standing, government and people, with the Palestinian people in their efforts to achieve their legitimate rights."
